Humanizing Recruitment

Key to a comprehensive DEI strategy is a holistic vision for recruiting the best talent. In my role as Assistant Director of Equity & Inclusion at the Stanford School of Engineering, I oversaw our diversity recruitment strategy and managed a team of recruiters. Critical to our recruitment efforts was creating new and innovative marketing materials. Below you will see recruitment letters written by current graduate students to prospective graduate students, encouraging them to apply.

Through these letters we wanted to form a sense of connection and belonging, and to encourage prospective applicants to see themselves at Stanford. So, we created post cards future grad engineers could identify with. Though I served as the project manager and creative director for these postcards, the end result was truly a collaborative effort. Critical to this process was centering student voices, and partnering with the marketing team. The end product was not only informative, engaging, and practical; but it humanized the Stanford application process and student experience.
